Those are the letters used by Paul Twitchell, founder of Eckankar. The word has a history though, and a history that can be traced.

An older version was Ekankar. Paul Twitchell once admitted as much.

However, in spite of Eckankar, Ekankar, etc. the history is much older than those words.

IMHO one need look at the Mool Mantra to understand the truth of this word.

Look at contents, number 2. Text.

Notice the word truth and where it appears.

There is one god,
named truth,
the creator,
without fear, without hate,
timeless in form,
beyond birth, self-existent,
(known by) the grace of the Guru.

Also, look at the longer version

True at the beginning,
true through the ages,
is yet true,
O Nanak, and will be true.

Again, IMHO, this is not talking about imaginary made up religions named Eckankar and / or the many offshoot religions and teachings. It is not talking about somebody claiming to be a master by virtue of some made up fictional teacher. Nor is it talking about fake, pseudo, or man (and woman) made history. To the contrary it is talking about truth and what is true.

So in spite of what is written, or said, the truth actually matters. And the truth matters most; as it is linked with "God", "Creator" & "Creation". In other words, truth is primal and eternal.

When people talk about satsang they are talking about "union" with the "truth".

Quoting ...

The name satsang is a Sanskrit word that means "gathering together for the truth" or, more simply, "being with the truth." Truth is what is real, what exists.[14]

So many words that launched the religion of Eckankar came from various New Age authors and others. Eckankar said they came from eck masters who belonged to an unbroken lineage. One can still find on the official Eckankar website so many words about an unbroken lineage of masters.

Quoting ...

MEET THE ECK MASTERS

This unbroken lineage of spiritual teachers reaches back throughout time. There are countless ECK Masters in the Order of Vairagi Adepts.

https://www.eckankar.org/explore/spiritual-teachers/

So why (according to Doug Marman) was the current leader of Eckankar not happy to find a "growing list" of material copied by Paul Twitchell, the founder. Paul didn't tell him?

Why was the leader of Eckankar, anterior to Harold Klemp, so dismayed to hear about plagiarism by the founder Paul Twitchell? Paul didn't tell him?

Hey. If it's an unbroken lineage of masters with information handed down by word of mouth ... why didn't the founder's successors know how much material was copied and credited to eck masters? Why didn't they know about how much pseudo history was involved? And why didn't they know about the fictional lineage they reportedly belonged to?
