THE HEADQUARTERS OF THE SELF IS THE EYE CENTRE

"When we are awake, the headquarters of the spirit is in the eye centre, behind the space between the two eyes (aka the Tisra Til or Third Eye - mt). In dream the spirit is in the throat centre. In Sushupati (deep slumber) it is in the navel center. We have to go up. we are right in the middle of a hill. There is no point in descending first and then going up again. That would be a mistake.

The Saints say, 'Let us start ascending from the eye centre.' the yogis have paid no heed to this and they start their course of meditation with the lowest body centre and thus waste their lives. They remain in the lower chakras. It is in these lower chakras that one finds the gods and goddesses. Kabir has described these stages in order to meet the objections of the yogis and to disprove the allegation that the Saints know nothing about the system of the body's chakras. The path of the Saints starts with the eye center."

(Hazur Sawan Singh. "Discourses on Sant Mat". RSSB 1963. Pg. 209)

Hazur Sawan Ji makes a very good point here. While there is nothing wrong with exploring the chakras, if one's goal is awakening to Soul and God, and attaining spiritual freedom in this lifetime, we need to find the method that best facilitates this process. It is in the eye center that the soul resides while in the physical body. It is from the eye center that the inner door opens and we step into Sahasdal Kanwal - the Astral Plane - meet the matrix of Spirit that is the Gurudev or Inner Friend - and begin our journey Home to Soul, God and Spiritual Freedom. If we are already at this stage (of being at the eye center), why would we want to go down from the sixth chakra to the first (root or rectal center) and then spend so much time climbing back to where we started the eye center? Let's just start from where we already are, and then proceed further within. It is eminently reasonable.

Please take some time today to reflect upon what Hazur Sawan Singh says on this, and then bring his perspective into your meditation. Focus - and keep your focus - upon the third eye, with relaxed, patient attention. Combine this with Simran (repeating charged words or names of God) sit in a state of humble receptivity. At the right time - when you are truly receptive and ready - the inner door will open toward you, you will be greeted by the Gurudev and lifted up and in to the Light and Sound of Divine Spirit or Shabda. From here your inner trek can now begin.

Have a beautiful day

List of Charged words?

Hi John.
It's the names of God on the five lowers plane as held by Sant Mat. The
master gives the student the charged words during initiation and told
they're not allowed to discuss these names with outsiders. Some are the same
and some are different than those in Eckankar. I doubt they have no real
effectiveness for those outside of Sant Mat.

While still on the subject, have you ever read Twitch's "The Third Eye"
written on January 17, 1964? In his understanding of how it works, one uses
the "imaginative faculty" centered at the third eye area. He stressed
bringing the imagination under control and the intentional use of
imaginative pictures.
He continued on this in "The Fluid World" expanding on his book The Flute of
God, by explaining a neat little trick of "how" to use the imagination.

"The conditioned consciousness is that part of man which has been
conditioned by habit, environment, or the outer senses. Man must rise above
this into the area of the unconditioned self and put or find himself within
the circumstances he is desiring. This is the trick of using the
imagination - for this is a plastic world, and yet there is nothing new
under the sun, as the old saying goes. This is because anything you can
desire or wish for has been imaged before, and you draw your own inner self
into that area of consciousness. This world outside ourselves has been made
by each individual. He shapes his own world according to his thoughts and
ideals."

He then goes on to explain how to experiment using the imagination by using
the imagination to change the future. Perhaps this more closely relates to
"one see's what he expects, or wants, to see". More to the point, it's been
there all along, but we couldn't see it because we weren't looking.

For me, the door has never opened inwardly. I find that it always been wide
open. It's only me, dropping what I have come to expect to see at the door
and accepting that this world exists both here and there, at the same
instant. It's when I see myself existing there as well, that's when the
door, or appropriately, the barrier, disappears, and I now become aware of
what I could see all along, but was ignoring. And at this point I find the
use of a single word, repeated over and over, works wonders. Whatever this
word is, is given to me at this point, when I'm ready to receive it - it's
not static, it changes often. (But that's ust my take on it.)
